Food handling safety is a scientific discipline and describes handling, preparation, and storage of food in ways that prevent foodborne illnesses. The occurrence of two or more cases of a similar illness resulting from the ingestion of a common food is known as a foodborne disease outbreak. As food professionals, it is our job to prevent these outbreaks. Food Manager Certification is essential to keeping your food establishment free of foodborne illness incidents and to keep your customers safe.
Food hygiene training includes a number of routines that should be followed to avoid potential health hazards. In this way, food safety often overlaps with defense and helps prevent harm to consumers. People from industry to market and market to consumer work to institute best practices, protecting consumers from food safety issues. In considering industry-to-market practices, food safety considerations include the origins of food, including the practices related to labeling, food hygiene, additives, and pesticide residues. The considerations also include policies on biotechnology and food guidelines for management of governmental import and export inspection and certification. In considering market-to-consumer practices, the usual thought is that food should be safe in the market, and the concern is safe delivery and preparation of the food to the consumer.
